The Complete Guide

60+ Corporate Holiday Party Entertainment Ideas, Rated by People Who Run Events for a Living

By William Griggs, founder. Reviewed by Anne Blakely, Claw & Order Manager. Obsessed with claw machines since ’99.

We plan entertainment for corporate events for a living, 2,000+ of them since 2016, which means we have watched most of the ideas on this list succeed and a few of them quietly die next to the coat check. This guide is every corporate holiday party entertainment idea we would actually consider, rated the way we rate options for our own clients: how much floor it eats, whether it works while people mingle or needs the room’s attention, how many guests it actually entertains per hour, whether it produces the photos that drive next year’s turnout, and when you have to book it. One of these ideas is ours. The other 65 are not, and we rated them honestly anyway, with a link to where you can book each one, because the planner who trusts this page today is the planner who calls us when the event needs a claw machine.

What is the best entertainment for a corporate holiday party?

The best corporate holiday party entertainment gives people something to DO together, not just watch: interactive stations like claw machines, photo booths, and game lounges outperform passive acts at mingling-style parties, while bands, comedians, and awards moments carry seated formats. Match the entertainment to your party’s format first, then its headcount.

Before The List

The Three Questions That Pick Your Entertainment

1. What format is the party?

Mingling parties (open floor, food stations, people standing) need STATION entertainment that runs continuously and absorbs the crowd in small bites. Seated parties (dinner, program, awards) need MOMENT entertainment that performs to everyone at once. The most common mistake we see: booking moment entertainment for a mingling party, where a great performer plays to the six people who stopped walking.

2. What is the turnout problem?

Holiday parties fight fear of commitment: people RSVP yes and stay home. Entertainment that photographs well fixes it forward, because this year’s photos are next year’s turnout. Fear of missing out beats fear of commitment. Rate every idea on whether it produces posts employees make on their own.

3. When are you booking?

December is the one month the entire corporate events industry sells out, and every vendor worth hiring runs first-come-first-served on December dates. We do too. The full timeline is at the bottom of this guide; the short version is that September buyers choose their vendor and November buyers inherit one.

How We Rate

The Rating Key

Every idea below is rated on the five things that decide whether it works at YOUR party. Ratings run Low, Medium, and High, with a word of nuance where it earns its place.

The December Capacity Clock

September

Every date is available and the best vendors quote fastest. Book now and you choose your vendor instead of inheriting one.

October

The first two December Saturdays go first, across the industry (true in our own calendar too). Specialty acts, the good comedians, carvers, and name bands, start declining dates. Our December calendar runs first-come-first-served, and this is when it fills.

November

You are choosing among what is left; rush fees appear; anything custom, branded builds, wrapped machines, printed backdrops, hits production deadlines (our wraps need artwork 3 weeks before the machine arrives, and we are not the strict ones).

December

Entertainment is still findable; GOOD entertainment is not.

January

The counter-programming window, where budgets go about 30 percent further.

When should you book holiday party entertainment?

Book corporate holiday party entertainment in September or early October. December dates sell first-come-first-served across the events industry, the first two December Saturdays go earliest, and custom elements like branded builds and machine wraps carry production lead times that November bookings start to miss.
