How NBC's Love Island Made Claw Machines the Star of Its Season 8 Event in NYC
The Challenge
Reality TV lives on moments fans can share. For the Season 8 event in New York City, the Love Island team needed an activation that felt like the show: playful, competitive, and built for the camera. It had to hand fans a real prize moment, hold up under multi-day event traffic, and look right in every photo, because at an entertainment activation the backdrop is doing brand work in every post.
It also had to run itself. The production team had a show to promote, not machines to manage.
The Solution
Double the play, double the line. Two machines side by side meant two lines, two winners at a time, and no bottleneck when traffic surged. For a consumer event where every attendee wants a turn, capacity is the difference between a moment and a missed one.
Show-branded presentation. Custom back panel graphics put Love Island front and center, so every grab, win, and reaction shot carried the season's branding behind it.
Fully staffed operation. A RentClawMachines.com team member was on site every day, running the machines, restocking prizes, and keeping the energy up. Delivery, setup, operation, and load-out were all handled, so the production team never touched the equipment.
Built for content. The machines pulled double duty as a set piece. A cast member walked the activation with a mic and camera crew on day two, and cast member Beatrice made an appearance at the machines on the final day. When the talent gravitates to your activation, you have built the right one.
The Results
The machines ran the full multi-day event in New York City, delivering prize moments for fans all the way through the final morning. The activation earned its own on-camera time with the cast, and the floor stayed busy from open to close, with a full photo and video set captured on site.
